The award from the Ministry of Environment was granted to the Wayang Windu  Geothermal Power Plant asset

Jakarta, 20 April 2026 — Star Energy Geothermal, a subsidiary of PT Barito Renewables Energy Tbk (IDX: BREN), through Star Energy Geothermal Wayang Windu Ltd (SEGWWL), has been awarded the PROPER Gold rating by the Ministry of Environment (KLH). This recognition is granted for environmental performance that goes beyond compliance and for sustained contributions to social welfare.

Hendra Soetjipto Tan, President Director of Barito Renewables and Group CEO of Star Energy Geothermal, stated: “Star Energy Geothermal is committed to conducting business operations that are responsible, environmentally friendly, and sustainable. This commitment is once again reflected in the PROPER award from the Ministry of Environment. We will continue to innovate to enhance operational efficiency and deliver greater benefits to the community.”

The achievement of the Wayang Windu Geothermal Power Plant, located in Pangalengan, Bandung Regency, in securing the PROPER Gold rating is driven by a series of innovations. In energy efficiency, the WW Retro Program (retrofit of cooling tower units 1 and 2) has delivered energy savings of 31,622.4 GJ in the cooling tower process. Emissions reduction has also been achieved through the PACE WW program (smart cooling system at Wayang Windu), which reduces greenhouse gas emissions by up to 1,756,687 tons of CO₂ per year. Additionally, hazardous waste management (B3 waste) is enhanced through the ASIS TURBO program (Artificial Oil & Sweetening System based on MSA), which reduces used oil in turbine operations, achieving savings of 17.94 liters.

Meanwhile, Star Energy Geothermal’s other two geothermal assets, Salak in Sukabumi and Darajat in Garut, each received the PROPER Green rating. These achievements reflect the Company’s strong commitment to environmental preservation and community welfare. The awards represent recognition of the entire team’s efforts in ensuring that SEG’s geothermal operations are conducted in harmony with environmental sustainability.

Currently, Star Energy Geothermal’s three geothermal assets have a total installed capacity of 926 MW, positioning Barito Renewables as one of the companies with the largest geothermal portfolios. By the end of 2026, Barito Renewables is projected to operate a total of 1 GW of geothermal capacity along with 79 MW of wind power capacity.
